bee and puppycat is such a weird fucking show. not senseless or absurd just. really strange. and really good.

LIKE. immediately from the first episode it’s established that bee is struggling hard with her new life as an adult as she’s in her early 20s, and that no one can really take her seriously though they like her. she acts carefree, but deep down she’s anxious. she can’t find a job that she’s capable of, which is why she resorts to the magical temp jobs, and that’s where the symbolism of this show comes in. the temp bot is a representation of bee’s emotional state, it gets gradually more distant and morose as bee learns more about herself and sees her situation more clearly, because the temp jobs are an easy distraction that keeps bee from growing as a person. a fantasy. in the last episode of season 1, where bee is in her best state, the temp bot is terrifying and glitching out and nearly kills deckard (my guess is because deckard’s the source of her self-realization). deckard is in love with bee, but he doesn’t really respect her as an adult. in cass’ words: “you’re avoiding your future as an excuse to mother her”. he really doesn’t want to hurt bee’s feelings, but that’s exactly what he ends up doing when bee finds out the truth. and of course, there’s the reveal at the end with bee secretly being a robot, or at the very least a cyborg. she knew that already, but she hid it from everyone else. she’s embarrassed about it. this is most likely a metaphor for feeling incomplete or artificial, since bee is definitely insecure about her identity and future.

but it’s also a show with a magical prince in the form of a cat/dog voiced by oliver the vocaloid that says shit like this:

VOCAMERICA Kickstarter Campaign is Now Over!

From June 23rd to July 28th, EmpathP asked the fans for financial help with her new Vocaloid project titled VOCAMERICA - a mobile MMD concert series that will travel to multiple cons and show only Western Vocaloids. She asked, and the fans answered big time. Not even two days after the Kickstarter began, the final goal of $5,000USD was reached, fully funding the project! But it didn’t stop there.

EmpathP established 11 Stretch Goals that all aim to add various things. Seven of them were met, which means that VOCAMERICA now has more merchandise to sell at concerts and online, and seven Vocaloids will perform with the original six VOCAMERICA performers! That totals out to 13 performers in all for future concerts!

The Kickstarter campaign received a total of $21,080 from 314 backers. One of the backers purchased the UTAU Performance Reward Package ($1,000) and that buyer will have the opportunity to create his/her own UTAUloid to add to future VOCAMERICA concerts! The name of the backer will be released at a later date.

Congrats to EmpathP and the VOCAMERICA crew for this incredible accomplishment!

For more info, visit the Kickstarter page. Vocaloid News Network has also been reporting on various VOCAMERICA things revealed by EmpathP. Check them out!
